Grant Overview

Purpose
The Center for ActiveWV, at the WVU College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences, through a partnership with HPCD, is funding projects statewide to increase physical activity. These one-time Capacity-Building Grants range from $1000 - $5000.

Application guidelines
Capacity-Building Grants are competitive. Each application will be objectively ranked by a selection committee using a standard scoring rubric. The total number of projects funded is dependent on the requested amounts and the strength of the proposals. Projects may receive partial funding.

Capacity-Building Grants cannot be used to fund:

One-time events or programs

Multiple projects with the same organization
-
Political purposes
-
Publicity or propaganda
Applications Must Demonstrate the Following: the Five Asks from HPCD including

Incorporate at least one Policy, Systems, and Environment (PSE) change over the course of the grant period.

Utilize health equity considerations in your project to help reduce health disparities.

Provide information on how you plan to ensure the sustainability of your efforts.

Mission
The overarching goal of the Center for ActiveWV is to provide an effective statewide physical activity framework that will promote sector input and collaboration, facilitate physical activity research among multidisciplinary teams, and guide state and local policy and practice.

Vision
The vision of the Center for ActiveWV is to increase the physical activity levels of both children and adults in our state to meet or exceed the national physical activity recommendations (2018 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans) and to, therefore, improve the health and quality of life of all West Virginians.
